After talking about Teachers’ role in building a child’s personality, it’s only logical to talk about how friends’s affect child’s personality development. After all peer pressure is unavoidable. So, as parents we could only wish that peer pressure is towards something positive.
Healthy friendships are very important to your child’s development, but peer pressure can become strong during this stage. Children who feel good about themselves are more able to resist negative peer pressure and make better choices for themselves. This is an important time for children to gain a sense of responsibility along with their growing independence.
You can help your child become independent, while building his or her sense of responsibility and self-confidence. But, at the same time, spend time with your child talking with him/her about his/her friends, his/her accomplishments, and what challenges he/she will face.
While parents and teachers have an integral role to play in shaping a child’s overall personality, friends play an equally important role. Here is more on how to bond with your child’s friends.
