The world’s largest temple Angkor Wat, is in Cambodia. This largest religious complex in the world, is the jewel in the vast Angkor archaeological site.
Western archaeologists helped to create the belief that this once thriving city was “lost” due to it’s remote location and the incredible plant life which lives in, through, and around the ancient stones.
This ancient city’s wonders were rediscovered in 1860 by the French explorer Henri Mahout after it had been concealed deep within the Cambodian jungle for centuries. Today it is now possible to experience this city’s mystical wonders. At one time this amazing place was the Khmer civilisations capital.
In addition to many tourists, Buddhist monks are daily visitors to Angkor Wat, their bright orange robes making a vivid contrast with the grey stone of the temple.
